Cape Fear Heroes decide to part ways with X-League
May 31, 2015 - X-League (X-League)
Cape Fear Heroes News Release
The Cape Fear Heroes have decided to part ways with the X-League due to many recent issues that the Heroes have had with the league, its league owners and some team owners about non enforced league policies. The Heroes had until 5pm today to notify the X-League if it wanted to be released by its X-League contract or go forward operating under new X-League policies, before the deadline the X-League Commissioner Michael Mink put out a release stating that the Cape Fear Heroes had been suspended from the X-League for violations of the leagues operations manual.
The Cape Fear Heroes were a member in good standing in the X-League at the time and were one of the few teams current in their league dues. In fact the Heroes were never notified by the X-League stating anything differently. What the Heroes were very vocal on was a league commissioner who was also an owner of two teams in the league that we felt was a direct conflict of interest. The X-League has shown that they are not interested in enforcing the rules in the league but would rather sweep them under the carpet. Several situations have occurred in the past several days the league commissioner sent out an email doing away with compliance committee and putting all the power to make decisions into the league owners hands who between the two league owners own three X-League teams.
This past week the Heroes had received notification that players from the Florida Marine Raiders had been suspended and would not be eligible to play against the Heroes in this upcoming game, due to a bench clearing brawl against the Alabama Outlawz last week. They stated that new Florida Marine Raiders players would be signed to fill the void. That same week Michael Mink Florida Marine Raiders owner and X-League Commissioner sent notification to his players which the Heroes have a copy of saying the team would not be going to Cape Fear and wasting $6,000.00 when their team was not in the playoff hunt. Later the Heroes were told that a replacement team from Ga would be coming in to play the Heroes dressed in different uniforms then the Florida Marine Raiders wear. When the Florida Marine Raiders posted their roster last night for their game with the Heroes they posted the names of the suspended players when asked by the Heroes about it the reasoning had no sense behind it.
Over the last couple of weeks the X-League has had several games were replacement teams were used to be sure a game was played when a current X-League team could not meet its obligation to play. The Heroes now in their 4th year of existence have always operated at a high standard of integrity and have always followed the rules and we would never allow any of our players to play in an unsafe environment.
The Heroes will be handing over all written correspondence sent by the X-League either by email or text that will clearly shed light and confirm the stance of the Heroes to the proper authorities as we begin our investigation into potential irregularities inside the X-League and to recover damages brought to the Heroes by the X-League.
That being said the future is bright tor the Heroes and Mondays June 1st game at the Crown Coliseum will be played as scheduled tailgating starts at 5:00 pm and game time is 7:30 pm. The Heroes will continue to play top caliber opponents and operate with the highest level of integrity while providing safe family entertainment to our Fayetteville area fans.
