Canton's High-Scoring First Half Takes Down BayHawks

Erie, PA- The Erie BayHawks (5-12) couldn't overcome a strong first half from the Canton Charge (9-8) tonight at Erie Insurance Arena, falling 106-123.

Canton came out in the opening frame shooting well on 77 percent from the floor and a perfect 100 percent from behind the arc (five-of-five) to jump out to a 19-point lead. The Charge continued to shoot well into the second quarter while the BayHawks couldn't get it going and took a 46-70 lead into half. The BayHawks grabbed only 14 rebounds in the half compared to the Charge's 33.

Erie came out of the half inspired, outscoring Canton 35-23 in the third quarter to pull within 12. After TJ Price hit a three early in the fourth to close the lead to seven, the Charge answered with nine straight points to extend the lead back to 16. The Charge would maintain the lead for the remainder of the game to seal the win. The BayHawks were outrebounded 37-61 but had only 13 turnovers.

The BayHawks were paced by 28 points and six assists from Gabe York on 10-of-22 shooting from the field. Branden Dawson had a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds. Price added 16 points on five-of-nine shooting and Anthony Brown posted 24 points.

Eric Moreland grabbed 19 rebounds for the Charge while scoring 18 points. John Holland had a game-high 31 points on 12-of-21. Chris Evans added 24 points and eight rebounds. Quinn Cook had 20 points.
