Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release
The Acadiana Cane Cutters drop the rubber match of the series to the Brazos Valley Bombers by a final score of 8-5.
The Cutters were trailing by a pair early in the game before generating a two-out rally in the top of the second inning. The Oklahoma Sooner and newest arrival Kyle Mendenhall got a big hit with the bases loaded as he laced a two-run single to right field to tie the game up at 2.
Ian Goff followed with an RBI single to left and Acadiana would plate another run on a fielding error from the left fielder. The Cutters scored four times in the 2nd inning to gain a 4-2 edge on the Bombers.
Cutters were up 4-3 in the 6th inning when Michael Fitzsimmons got an RBI single to tie the game up at 4. Anthony Herrera followed with a two-run RBI single to left to give the Bombers the lead back at 6-4. Brazos Valley never looked back from that point in the contest.
The loss drops the Cane Cutters to 5-2 as they'll head down South in the state of Texas and take on the Woodlands Strykers tomorrow night for the first game of a two game set. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
