
Bighorns Stomp Stars in Final Showcase Game

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario - Lamar Patterson scored 34 points on 11-of-23 shooting to go with eight rebounds as the Reno Bighorns (10-16) snapped their three-game losing streak by beating the Salt Lake City Stars (7-19), 121-101, on Day Five of the NBA Development League Showcase.
Kadeem Jack chipped in with a 24-point, 11-rebound double-double off the bench and Isaiah Cousins had 16 points and eight assists in the winning effort.
The Stars were led by Joel Bolomboy, who netted 19 points and hauled in nine boards. Diamond Stone contributed 15 points and seven rebounds in relief and Tyrone Wallace scored 15 points in 22 minutes of play in the loss.
After a tight first quarter, the Bighorns led by one, 27-26. Patterson led all scorers in the first quarter, netting 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting. Sundiata Gaines led the Stars with six first-quarter points.
Reno used the next two quarters to extend its lead to 26 at the end of the third period, 99-73. Patterson continued to fill up the basket, notching 28 points after three quarters, while Jack contributed 20 points and seven boards through three.
The Bighorns cruised in the fourth quarter to finish Showcase 1-1. Reno next hosts the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 10 p.m. ET. The Stars finished its showcase 0-2 and takes on the Santa Cruz Warriors to Salt Lake City on Friday, Jan. 27 at 9 p.m. ET.
