Bighorns Snap Legends Winning Streak

FRISCO, TEXAS ---- The Reno Bighorns (6-11) defeated the Texas Legends 109-108 (10-7) Friday night at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas.

Sacramento Kings Affiliate Player Lamar Patterson led the Bighorns with 31 points, five rebounds, seven assists and two steals while Reggie Hearn notched in 22 points and nine rebounds. Affiliate player Isiah Cousins scored 21 points and added six rebounds and six assists.

Manny Harris paced the Legends with 29 points, five rebounds and three assists while Kyle Collinsworth notched 14 points and nine rebounds and five assists.

The Legends jumped out to an early 8-2 lead before the Bighorns chipped away at the Legends lead knotting the score up at eight with 7:27 to play in the first frame. The Bighorns went on a 9-2 run behind a three from Patterson. The Bighorns ended the first quarter going on an 8-1 run to hold a 32-21 lead heading into the second frame. The Bighorns shot 62.5% from the field in the first frame compared to the Legends shooting 36.4% from the field.

The Legends cut the deficit to four points to open the second frame after a triple from Harris before the Bighorns pulled away to regain a double-digit lead at the 8:27 mark. The teams remained scoreless for two minutes until Legends' Tony Wroten hit a triple to make cut the Legends deficit to six. The Bighorns' regained their momentum to open their lead to as many as 13 points. The Bighorns went into the locker room at the half with a 59-49 lead.

The Legends heated up coming out of the locker room to get within two points of the Bighorns, making it a 70-68 game at the mid-way point. The Bighorns went on a 12-3 run to make it an 82-71 game with 3:00 to play in the third quarter. The Legends responded, going on a 10-3 run spurred by a triple from Collinsworth. Will Davis would make a running dunk to give the Bighorns an 87-81 lead heading into the final frame.

The Bighorns defense continued to attack the Legends, leading by nine points at the 5:31 mark after a three from Hearn. The Bighorns kept the Legends at bay leading by more than 16 with 2:00 in play. The Legends went on a late 10-2 run after a three by Collinsworth. The Bighorns would not relinquish the lead to secure a 112-104 victory over the Legends.

Patterson scored 20 of his 31 points in the second half while Hearn poured in 15 in the second half.

The Bighorns will return to the Reno Events Center to host the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.
