Bighorns Down the BayHawks

ERIE, PA - The Reno Bighorns (4-5) defeated the Erie Bayhawks (5-9) 121-110 Friday night at the Erie Insurance Arena.

Sacramento assignee Justin Jackson led the Bighorns with 26 points, six rebounds, and three assists while David Stockton scored 21 points, grabbed four rebounds and added eight two assists for Reno. Kings assignment player Georgios Papagiannis recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 14 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.

Roscoe Smith paced the Bayhawks with 20 points and three rebounds off the bench while Jeremy Hollowell notched 18 points, four rebounds and two assists for Erie.

The Bighorns used the first quarter to find separation from the Bayhawks outscoring the hosts 39-25. The visitors expanded their lead to as many as 29 points in the second quarter behind hot-shooting from the Kings assignees who combined for 17 points in the frame.

The Bighorns had a 59.6% team shooting effort in the first half of play compared to Erie's 41.0% shooting effort.

Reno continued to execute their office in the third quarter, shooting 59.1% from the field and 50.0% from distance. Though the Bayhawks would chip away at their deficit cutting it to 15 points, a triple from Jackson would trigger a late run by the Bighorns to give Reno a 104-80 lead heading into the final frame.

Stockton opened the fourth quarter with a jumper followed by a triple from Aaron Harrison to give the Bighorns another 29-point lead. Erie would battle back to make it an 11-point game after going on a 14-0 run mid-way through the frame. The Bighorns kept the Bayhawks at distance with a double-digit lead the remainder of the frame to secure a 121-110 victory.
