BayHawks Comeback Falls Short

Erie, PA (December 3) - The Erie BayHawks (1-7) late comeback bid fell short tonight against the Westchester Knicks (6-1), 103-105.

The BayHawks and Knicks were evenly matched through one quarter of play with seven lead changes and four ties but the Knicks jumped out in front in the second behind a 14-2 run to open the quarter. After shooting 42% in the opening frame, Erie tapered off to only 29% shooting from the field in the second quarter leading to a 46-64 Knicks lead at half.

Erie went on a 12-2 run of their own in the third quarter to pull the deficit within ten. Erie fell behind by 16 following their run but fought back in the fourth to pull the game within 100-102 with 1:32 to play on a Stephen Zimmerman jumper. After intentionally fouling Damien Inglis, Erie used an advance and on the ensuing inbounds play, Westchester's Jordan Crawford was called for technical for crossing the line. Ramon Galloway hit the free throw but the BayHawks faltered on the inbounds play and couldn't complete the comeback.

TJ Price paced the BayHawks with 26 points, six assists, and five rebounds on nine-of-18 shooting. Zimmerman posted his second double-double in a row with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Galloway added 22 points and six rebounds. Alex Davis had his most efficient output of the season with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Jordan Crawford poured in 22 points on seven-of-11 shooting (3-4 from three-point range) for the Knicks. Chasson Randle added 13 points and five assists while Robert Vaden and Kevin Capers each chipped in 11.

The BayHawks are off until December 7th when they take on the Long Island Nets on the road. The BayHawks return to Erie Insurance Arena on Friday, December 9th for Star Wars Night. Tickets are available at eriebayhawks.com or by calling 814-790-5600.
