Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, PA- The Erie BayHawks have acquired guard Robert Vaden from the available player pool the team announced today.
Vaden (6-5, 205), a four-year product of University of Alabama-Birmingham, most recently played for the Westchester Knicks where he appeared in 12 games (four starts) while averaging 6.0 points and 1.7 rebounds. He was acquired by the Knicks on January 20, 2015 from the Bakersfield Jam and appeared in six games during the 2015-16 season before suffering a season-ending injury. Vaden played with the Tulsa 66ers during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 season while on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder. His best D-League season came in 2011-12 when he averaged 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists-per-game.
Vaden was originally selected 54th overall in the 2009-10 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets. He was part of a draft-night deal that sent him to the Oklahoma City Thunder. After appearing in five NBA Summer League games, he spent the 2009-10 season with Italian team Aget Imola (second division) where he averaged 16.9 points. He returned to the Thunder for 2010 NBA Summer League but ultimately signed a three-month contract with BK SPU Nitra of Slovakia during the 2011 NBA lockout. Vaden was dealt to the Minnesota Timberwolves on December 13, 2011 in exchange for Lazar Hayward and the Timberwolves released him the same day. He spent the 2012-13 season with Telekom Baskets Bonn of Germany's Basketball Bundesliga and the 2013-14 season with Belfius Mons-Hainaut of Belgium.
The BayHawks return to Erie Insurance Arena on Wednesday, January 25 against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Tickets are available at eriebayhawks.com or by calling 814-790-5600.
