Birmingham Barons News Release

The Barons received another strong start in a loss as the Montgomery Biscuits blanked Birmingham by a 4-0 final score.

Barons' starter Blair Walters dished six shutout frames before conceding a pair of runs in the seventh inning, leading to the loss. The 26-year-old bounced back from a pair of tough outings at Regions Field, allowing just five hits while recording six strikeouts during tonight's game.

Reliever Euclides Leyer closed the seventh inning with a strikeout but allowed a two-run homer to Patrick Leonard in the eighth. Leonard has now posted four RBIs against the Barons in two games this series.

A trio of Montgomery pitchers limited Birmingham to just three hits on the night. Keenyn Walker posted a pair of knocks but was caught on the base paths twice. Trey Michalczewski added a base hit.

Four Barons reached via a walk, including Walker, Courtney Hawkins, Alfredo Gonzalez, and Keon Barnum.

RHP Spencer Adams is scheduled to start tomorrow evening as the Barons and the Biscuits meet for the third game of this week's five game series. Adams, 20, spun six innings and allowed just three earned runs in his AA debut against Montgomery July 22 at Regions Field.
