Erie BayHawks News Release

Portland, ME (December 18) - The Erie BayHawks (4-10) downed the Maine Red Claws (9-6) in Portland tonight, 108-104.

The BayHawks took a 56-49 lead into half despite hitting on only 50 percent from the free throw line. Erie held Maine to only four made threes on 16 shots in the first half.

The Red Claws went on a nine to nothing run midway through the third quarter to bring the game within one. Maine's momentum was stalled after Cliff Alexander and Asauhn Dixon-Tatum were issued double technical fouls. After Maine missed on their ensuing possession, Gabe York picked up the pace with a quick succession of plays that saw him hit a three-pointer, draw an offensive foul, and score on an easy layup to take an 83-79 lead into the fourth quarter.

TJ Price opened the fourth quarter with four straight points to extend the BayHawks' lead. Damion Lee hit a three with 2:47 to play for the Red Claws but Cliff Alexander responded with a layup to pull the game back to two possessions. The BayHawks got the ball right back after Jalen Jones committed an offensive foul. After a no call on the sideline that resulted in an Anthony Brown turnover, the BayHawks defense forced an errant three from Demetrius Jackson to seal the game with :22 seconds remaining.

Anthony Brown finished with a team-high 23 points and six rebounds. York continued his strong play as of late, posting 17 points and nine assists on six-of-11 shooting from the field. Alexander had his strongest output since returning from a knee injury with 16 points on eight-of-11 and seven rebounds. Price had 16 points and four rebounds.

Abdel Nader had a game-high 27 points and six rebounds for the Red Claws. Jones grabbed a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Lee added 20 points and seven rebounds while Jackson had 18 points.
