AUSTIN KNIGHTS ANNOUNCE ROSTER

AUSTIN, Texas, March 19, 2002- The Austin Knights, Austin's new indoor football team, today announced their final roster of players for the season beginning this Saturday on the road in Houma, LA.

Cuts were made from the original thirty-eight players invited to camp down to a final roster of thirty, with twenty-one on the active roster. The team includes former University of Texas, Texas A&M and Southwest Texas State players.

Brad Ericson, was named starting quarterback for the Knights, is a former indoor football player. Tex-ex Jamel Thompson will be receiving Ericson's passes at wide receiver.

"Brad came into camp with a real fire in his gut. He just went out there and took the QB position and made it his. That's the kind of leadership we will need this season especially on the road this weekend." Coach Bucky Godbolt on Brad Ericson.

Former UT linebacker Michael Boudoin will lead the defense, along with Pharoah Dixon, Brent Predia and Aaron Fletcher.

"After all of the success many of us had playing football in high school and college we're happy to have a chance to compete and prove ourselves at the level in the NIFL," said defensive back Aaron Fletcher.

The Austin Knights begin their season on the road in Houma LA against the Bayou Bucks this Saturday, March 23. The first home game is April 20,2002 at 7:30 at the newly renovated Travis County Expo Center.

About Austin Knights Football Established in December 2001, the Austin Knights are part of the National Indoor Football League and will be playing at the Travis County Expo Center.
