Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Bernardo Flores gave up one run on two hits over eight innings as Kannapolis opened the weekend with a 2-1 win over the BlueClaws at FirstEnergy Park.

Flores (3-1) struck out six and walked just one in the longest start of his career.

Kannapolis (10-10) won their first game against the BlueClaws (11-11) this year after Lakewood won the first four games of the season in North Carolina.

The Intimidators scored twice in the first inning on a two-run single by Zach Remillard to jump out to a 2-0 lead, the only runs they would need in the game.

BlueClaws starter Adonis Medina (0-2) came out of the game after four innings, allowing two runs on six hits.

Lakewood got on the board in the fifth when Henri Lartigue started the inning with a triple, coming home to score on a groundout by Danny Zardon.

The BlueClaws threatened in the eighth with the lead-off man on, but did not score. Mike Morrison threw a scoreless ninth to earn his third save of the season.

Remillard had three hits and two RBIs and Grant Massey went 3-4. Mickey Moniak and Henri Lartigue had the hits for the BlueClaws.

The series with Kannapolis continues on Friday night. RHP Felix Paulino (1-1) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Jimmy Lambert (2-0).
