Daytona Tortugas News Release

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - The Daytona Tortugas (37-22, 73-55) walked-off the Lakeland Flying Tigers (22-36, 56-70) for the second time this week, winning 5-4 in 11 innings Thursday night at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Blake Trahan picked up his first-career four-hit game, while Jonathan Reynoso drove in the game-winning run with an infield single in the bottom of the 11th.

Daytona took an early 1-0 lead on an Angelo Gumbs RBI ground out to second in the first inning. RHP Tejay Antone ran in to some trouble in the fifth, allowing four runs and five hits for the 4-1 Lakeland lead.

Daytona responded in the home half, when Trahan launched his fourth homer of the season, a two-run shot over the left field wall, to pull Daytona within a run, 4-3. It was his first home run in 56 games, which also came against Lakeland.

In the bottom of the ninth, it was Trahan once more. With runners at second and third and one out, he laced the game-tying single up the middle to score Ty Washington before Reynoso was thrown out at the plate by Lakeland's center fielder Ismael Salgado to keep it a 4-4 game.

RHP Jimmy Herget tossed a scoreless 10th and 11th inning before the Tortugas stunned the Flying Tigers for their eight walk-off win of the season. Juan Duran smashed a ground-rule double to right-center to begin the frame before Brian O'Grady walked to put runners at second and third with no outs. Garrett Boulware dropped down a successful sacrifice bunt to third to advance the runners to scoring position.

With the Lakeland infield drawn in, Reynoso singled sharply to the Flying Tigers' second baseman Anthony Periera to score Duran for the winning run.

Daytona welcomes in the third-place Clearwater Threshers on Friday for their final Dog Day of the year. First pitch of the crucial three game series is slated for 7:05 p.m. with coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m. on AM 1230 and AM 1490.
