Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are excited to announce that a member of the front office has graduated from the organization, climbing the ladder to the National Hockey League. Christina Monterosso is joining the Carolina Hurricanes as a Group Sales Representative.
Monterosso, 24, came to the Nailers in the summer of 2012, when she began her tenure with the club as an intern. That winter, she was promoted to a full-time position, which ultimately led her to become the team's Director of Ticket Sales in October of 2014. Prior to her three-year career in Wheeling, Christina attended West Virginia University, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism, with a major in Public Relations and a minor in Business Administration.
"This is a very proud day for our organization, as we get to see the hard work and dedication of one of our employees result in a job at hockey's highest level," said Nailers Vice President Craig Bommer. "We are extremely grateful for all of Christina's hard work and dedication to the Nailers, as she grew through the years from intern, to full-time employee, and ultimately Director of Ticket Sales."
Christina Monterosso becomes the second front office member in the past month to accept a position in the National Hockey League, joining Matt Rosen, who is currently employed by the Nashville Predators.
The Wheeling Nailers will start the 2015-16 season with a two-game road series against the Norfolk Admirals on October 16th and 17th, before playing their home opener on October 24th against the Brampton Beast at 7:35.
