OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. - The first-seeded Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the fourth-seeded Oklahoma City Blue 105-98 on Wednesday night in Game 1 of their opening round series of the 2015 NBA D-League Playoffs. The victory gives the Warriors the 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series that will now head to Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz was paced by Elliot Williams who finished with 27 points on a 10 of 16 shooting effort. Taylor Griffin contributed with 16 points, while six players total for the Warriors scored in double-figures.

The Blue received a solid performance from Semaj Christon who finished with 30 points. Frank Gaines logged 16 points.

Santa Cruz got a hot start in the early minutes of the opening frame, outscoring the Blue 27-17 heading into the second period with a 10-point edge. Oklahoma City would stay within striking distance of Santa Cruz, staying within 8 points heading into the break.

The Warriors would never relinquish that lead and would open it up by as many as 21 points behind an acute shooting effort from Elliot Williams. The Oklahoma City Blue would fight back during the final quarter to come within 5 points of the Warriors, but the late fourth-quarter rally would fall short of eclipsing the Santa Cruz lead.

The Santa Cruz Warriors will host the Blue on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. PST at Kaiser Permanente Arena for the second playoff game in the best-of-three series. Fans can listen to the broadcast on the Santa Cruz Warriors flagship station, KION 1460AM/101.1FM, or catch the game on ESPNews.
