Rochester Knighthawks News Release

Rochester native Joe Walters will take the mound for the hometown Red Wings Thursday afternoon to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The Wings will host the Pawtucket Red Sox in a Triple-A baseball game at 1:05 p.m. at Frontier Field.

Walters recently completed his sixth season with the Rochester Knighthawks by helping the team become the first team in National Lacrosse League history to win three straight Champion's Cups.

In 2014, Walters recorded career highs in goals (15), assists (26) and points (41). During the NLL Playoffs, he finished second on the team in points with 18 (4+14). The former Irondequoit High School standout was one of the key contributors in Rochester's comeback win in the final game of the NLL Finals.

In Game Three, Walters scored one goal and added two assists to lead the Knighthawks to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Calgary Roughnecks. Needing a win in Game Two to force the 10-minute tiebreaker, the Rochester native notched five points (1+4) in a 16-10 win over the Roughnecks.

Off the field, Walters was named the team's Community Service Award winner for the fifth time in his career (2010-14). He serves as the spokesperson for the team's anti-bullying, and health and fitness programs.

Knighthawks season tickets are currently on sale by calling (585) 454-HAWK (4295) or by visiting www.knighthawks.com.
