Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - On Saturday night at Pepsi Center, the Colorado Mammoth and Philadelphia Wings were tied at the end of the first quarter, at the end of the second, and the end of the third. Mammoth forward John Grant Jr.'s power-play goal with 2:09 remaining in the fourth tied the game again. But two goals from the Wings in the final minute of the game, including one empty-netter, gave Philadelphia a 14-12 win on 'Western Night'.

"We put together a full 60 [minutes]," said Colorado goaltender Dillon Ward, who shined in a 47-save performance. "It just so happened to go the other way. We had slow starts in our last couple games. Today we just had a slow ending."

The Mammoth welcomed back forward Adam Jones, who suffered an injury nearly two months ago. He had two goals and three assists in the losing effort.

"It felt great!" said the 24-year-old about returning to the line-up.

But the outcome wasn't what Jones envisioned.

Colorado donned blue jerseys inspired by the Colorado state flag for the first time in franchise history. Mutton bustin', an annual Mammoth tradition, entertained fans at halftime. And Athan Iannucci's four goals brought the 16,322 fans in attendance to their feet. Ultimately, said Jones, it was the final sixty seconds that was the difference-maker.

"Unfortunately we weren't able to put it away late in the fourth."
