
Phoenix Coyotes Sign Defenseman James Melindy

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have signed defenseman James Melindy to a three-year entry-level contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-3, 186-pound Melindy appeared in two games with the Portland Pirates (AHL) last season. The 19-year-old native of St. John's, Newfoundland also collected 4-20-24 and a plus-13 rating in 67 games with the Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL) in 2012-13.
Melindy was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the third round (88th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
