Quebec's Dustin Crenshaw and Newark's Bryan Banes engaged in a spirited pitching duel, with the Capitales scratching out a sixth-inning run to edge the Bears, 1-0.
Crenshaw threw seven innings, scattering five hits while fanning three for the victory as Quebec (5-0) stayed undefeated on the season. Banes went the distance for Newark (2-3), allowing just three hits in eight innings of work.
DH Rene Leveret rapped a two-out double in the sixth to bring home CF Sebastien Boucher for the game's only tally. Casey Harman and Chris Cox pitched scoreless eighth and ninth innings, respectively, to preserve the victory for the Capitales.
The seven Newark hits were spread among seven different players, with 3B D'Angelo Jimenez's second-inning double the only extra-base hit of the evening for the Bears.
The two teams zipped through the game in just an hour and 52 minutes, four minutes shy of the league record..com.
