CHICAGO - Sky Blue FC defender Christie Rampone was voted the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Week by the media for Week 6 of the 2013 NWSL season.

Rampone, 37, played all 180 minutes in SBFC's two games during Week 6 and helped led the team to its third and fourth shutouts of the season in a 1-0 victory May 16 over Portland Thorns FC and a 3-0 win May 19 against Seattle Reign FC.

The clean sheets extended Sky Blue FC's consecutive shutout streak to three.

The Manasquan, N.J. native and SBFC have allowed just one goal in their last 430 minutes of play - a 90th-minute equalizer to Chicago Red Stars midfielder Alyssa Mautz in a 1-1 draw in a midweek game during Week 5.

The U.S. international captain has played every minute (630) this season and been a significant factor in her team's 0.57 GAA - tied for best in the league with Portland.

Rampone was named Tuesday to the U.S. Women's National Team roster for the USA's friendly match against Canada on June 2 at BMO Field in Toronto. She is the second most capped player in U.S. history and the most-capped active player in the world with 280 appearances for her national team.

Sky Blue FC will return to action Saturday, May 25 at 8:35 p.m. ET against FC Kansas City at Verizon Wireless Field in Overland Park, Kan.

The NWSL Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
