SASKATOON - The London Knights offence produced three goals while goaltender Anthony Stolarz was solid in net to help the Knights defeat the Saskatoon Blades 3-2 in game one of the MasterCard Memorial Cup in front of a great crowd at the Credit Union Centre.

The Blades energized the hometown crowd by scoring the first goal of the tournament at 7:59. Michael Ferland served a beautiful pass to Josh Nicholls, who made no mistake by one-timing the puck past Anthony Stolarz.

The OHL champions took very little time before tying the game up at one as Brett Welychka registered London's first marker at 12:55. With less than two minutes left in the period, Seth Griffith put the Knights up 2-1.

The goaltenders were the stories in the second period, pushing away a combined 20 of the 21 shots they faced. Only Josh Nicholls was able to beat Stolarz at 15:21 with his second marker of the contest.

Nikita Zadorov, a first round hopeful for the next NHL Entry Draft, scored the game-winner on the power-play.

Game two of the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup will see the Portland Winterhawks battle the Halifax Mooseheads. The game can be seen live on Sportsnet and TVA Sports starting at 7 pm ET / 8 pm AT.
