Upcoming Events from the Federal Hockey League

Published on May 13, 2013 under Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) News Release

After an unbelievable playoff run by the Danbury Whalers and their subsequent Championship, the Federal Hockey League is pleased to announce a very busy off season for all the teams and their fans. Below are the top three events planned for this spring and summer.

Expansion Draft

The FHL will be holding its Annual Expansion Draft on Friday May 31st at 12 PM eastern time via Conference Call. All returning teams can protect 12 players from their season ending eligible roster. During the draft, no returning team can loose more than 5 players. There will be a maximum of 12 rounds so that each team will have a 12 man protected list at the end of the draft. Results of the Draft will be posted on the FHL website at the conclusion of the Draft.

College/JR Draft

The FHL will be holding its 1st ever Collegiate/Junior Draft on Monday June 17th at 7:30 PM eastern. This draft will be for undrafted college players and those Junior players aging out who have decided not to continue on to college. The teams will be shortly announcing a venue where fans can assemble and watch their favorite teams staff in their war rooms discussing their upcoming picks and listen to the Draft LIVE via conference call. There will be four rounds starting with the newest teams and then the returning teams in reverse order of finish. All teams will have season ticket info and merchandise available at their draft party. Visit your favorite teams website for details on where the Draft will be happening.

Free Agent Draft

The FHL will be conducting its Inaugural "Free Agent Camp Draft" on Sunday August 11th at 12:30 PM following the last game of the camp. All six games at the camp will be broadcast LIVE on the "FHL Sports Network". The cost for the six game package is just $20. The Draft will be broadcast LIVE and is FREE to anyone. Just like the College/JR Draft, the new teams will select first followed by the returning teams in reverse order of finish. There will be four rounds. The teams will be afforded 2 minutes to make their pick. Once selected, the player and coach of the selecting team will be interviewed by Matt Ryan, host of the "FHL Week in Review". If anyone would like to come and watch either the camp or Draft, please visit our website for times and rinks. There is no charge for attending the camp or Draft for our fans.
