Bandits Present Local High Schools with Scholarship Opportunity

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits have announced a special offer for local high schools that will provide them the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship for their school.

On Saturday, June 1 the Bandits will take on the Indiana Slammers in an exhibition game at 7:35 p.m. Local high school softball teams, as well as all other students enrolled at the participating high schools, will be able to purchase tickets to the exhibition game for $3.

"It's important for us that this game is well attended because it's the start of our season," said Bandits General Manager, Aaron M. Moore. "There will be a number of activities that day, including open tryouts, in addition to the fact that it kicks off our 2013 season. This is a great way for us to showcase what the Bandits are all about as we look towards a new season."

In addition, the high school with the highest attendance that night, based on a percentage of the students enrolled at the school, will receive a $1,000 scholarship courtesy of the Chicago Bandits. Fans or alumni of high schools are also encouraged to purchase tickets for the game in support of their school.

"We've had a lot of success with our Friday Night Lights series, which allows local high schools to play under the lights of the Ballpark at Rosemont and we felt this was a great way to continue to show our support for high school softball programs."

Discounted tickets for the June 1 game will be only be available with advanced purchases. Prices at the window will feature day of game pricing.

The Bandits will open the 2013 season on Wednesday, June 5 against the Akron Racers at the Ballpark at Rosemont.
