PGCBL Develops Future Stars off the Field, Too - Part 2

The teams in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League continue to develop young talent on the diamond and in the office. As in years past, PGCBL trained interns have accepted sports management and marketing positions throughout the US. Here are some of our latest internship success stories.
Last year Justin Cortes was an intern in the front office of the Adirondack Trail Blazers. Now he is a graduate of SUNY - Brockport and is currently a Sports & News Producer at WIBX 950 Radio in Utica.
The internship program of the Albany Dutchmen saw two of their members "turn pro". Mike Leslie graduated from Hofstra University and currently is the sports anchor for WGGB/Fox 6 TV in Western Massachusetts. Nick Germano is now an alumni of Western New England College and is a Marketing Coordinator with the New Jersey Devils AHL affiliate, the Albany Devils.
Amsterdam Mohawks intern Kyle Kesses graduated from Fordham University and moved on from entertaining PGCBL fans to an On Field Entertainment Assistant with the New York Yankees.
The Elmira Pioneers intern alumni group is proud that Doug Page and Kevin Tracy used their summer positions as a springboard to start their professional careers. Doug, a graduate of Medaille College is working in the Media Department for the short season 'A' Jamestown Jammers. Kevin graduated from SUNY - Cortland and is currently a Group Event Specialist for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Former Glens Falls interns Gina Nassivera and Matt Ariette profited from their internship experience with the Golden Eagles. Gina graduated from Northern Illinois University and is currently the Game Operations and Event Coordinator for the Chicago Black Hawks AHL affiliate, the Rockford Ice Hogs. Matt graduated from Temple University and is currently working as an assistant in the New York Yankees Player Development Video Operations department. Dave Malerk interned for the Newark Pilots in 2012. This year he graduated from St. John Fisher College and began working as a Box Office Assistant for the Washington Nationals at their spring training facility in Viera, FL.
"Each season, the PGCBL gives me the opportunity to work with many talented young people. I expect 2013 will be more of the same. Working within the small business structure of our teams really gives these interns a chance to learn how you run a team.", stated PGCBL President Jeff Kunion.
The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, located in upstate New York, plays a 48 game schedule in June, July and August. Individuals looking for valuable work experience that will help shape their future careers in sports management, sports media or sports broadcasting should contact the league office to discuss opportunities with the PGCBL or any of its teams.
