Be Part of a Championship Team... Work For The Pump Jacks
Published on May 1, 2013 under Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
East Texas PumpJacks News Release
The East Texas Pump Jacks will begin defending their Texas Collegiate League title later this month, when they kick off their sixth season. But before they do, they're looking for some new members of the team: not pitchers and catchers, but ticket sellers and grill cooks.
The Pump Jacks will host their annual job fair on Sunday and Monday, May 5 and 6, to hire the team staff that will work at home games this summer.
"Season after season, our employees are what make the Pump Jacks and Driller Park the place to be," said Pump Jacks general manager Mike Lieberman.
"We expect this summer to be even more special, as we prepare to defend our league title and host the TCL All-Star Game. We're looking for the right team members to make this summer fun and exciting!"
The job fair will take place on Sunday, May 5, from 1 to 6 p.m., and Monday, May 6, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. It will be held at the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce, located at 813 North Kilgore Street in Kilgore.
Nearly every position at the ballpark is available. Applicants can work in the ticket office, concessions, wait staff, the promo team... even mascots!
Working for a team like the Pump Jacks is certainly a job, but it's also much more.
"There aren't many places people can have fun while they work, but Driller Park is one of them," said Lieberman. "The atmosphere at the ballpark is one that makes both fans and employees smile.
"One the best things about working with the Jacks is that it's perfect for so many people: teachers or students with the summer off, anyone looking for a fun second job, and even a teenager's first job."
Some positions may have roles outside of the ballpark as well. The promo team, for example, can serve as the Jacks' goodwill ambassadors in the community, appearing at fairs and events during the summer and even throughout the year. Not only does this mean that promo team members have the opportunity to earn even more, but the position serves as valuable experience for anyone looking to work in a field like PR or community relations.
Those interested in being member of the Pump Jacks can attend the job fair, where they will learn the specifics of the available positions and submit applications. Interviews will be conducted on-site, so applicants are encouraged to dress accordingly. Applicants must be at least 16 years old to be hired.
A list of some of the positions available and information on the job fair can also be found on the Pump Jacks official website at www.pumpjacksbaseball.com.
The Pump Jacks open the defense of their title on Thursday, May 30, on the road against the Texas Marshals. They open their 2013 home schedule on Tuesday, June 4, against the Acadiana Cane Cutters, then conclude their opening homestand with a championship rematch against the Victoria Generals.
Host Families: The Pump Jacks are seeking host families for the 2013 season. Hosting a player is a great experience that forges a lifelong bond with a young man, a relationship that transcends the game of baseball. Host families also receive free season tickets - including the All-Star Game - for every member of their household. If you're interested in finding out more about the host family program, please contact the Pump Jacks at (903) 218-GO ET or info@pumpjacksbaseball.com.
