Published on April 8, 2013 under SPHL (SPHL) News Release

HUNTERSVILLE, NC (April 8, 2013) - The third-seeded Pensacola Ice Flyers and eighth-seeded Huntsville Havoc will meet in the 2013 President's Cup Championship, which opens Tuesday in Pensacola.

The Ice Flyers are making their second consecutive appearance in the finals and are looking for their first title after losing to Columbus in the 2012 President's Cup Championship. Pensacola is a perfect 4-0 in the postseason, allowing only six goals in sweeping Knoxville and Mississippi (Surge).

The Havoc defeated the top two seeds (Fayetteville and Louisiana) to reach the finals as they look to capture their second championship, having won the 2010 President's Cup over the Mississippi Surge. Three of Huntsville's five games have gone to overtime, including a record-setting triple overtime contest against Louisiana on Friday.

The teams met four times during the regular season, with Huntsville taking the season series three games to one. Three of the four games were decided by one goal, including a 4-3 overtime win by the Havoc in November.

Following tomorrow's game in Pensacola, the series shifts to Huntsville on Friday with a decisive third game in Pensacola on Sunday, if needed.
