SAN JOSE, Calif. (Monday, March 4, 2013) - The Real Salt Lake Reserves (1-0-0, 3 points) beat the San Jose Earthquakes Reserves (0-1-0, 0 points) 1-0 in MLS Reserve League action on Monday afternoon at the Earthquakes Training Facility.

Real Salt Lake rookie FW Devon Sandoval scored the game's lone goal in the 42nd minute, getting on the end of a FW Joao Plata ball in the box and slotting home. Both Sandoval and Plata came off the bench in RSL's 2-0 MLS regular season win at San Jose on Sunday night, with Plata playing 25 minutes and registering an assist and Sandoval making his professional debut as a late game sub for two-goal scorer FW Alvaro Saborio.

RSL's backline made Sandoval's goal stand up, shutting out the Earthquakes and getting out of the Bay Area with all three points. The Claret-and-Cobalt outshot San Jose 7-2 on Monday, tallying a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Real Salt Lake will travel back to Salt Lake City on Monday evening. The team will train once in Utah before heading to the nation's capital later in the week ahead of Saturday's MLS match at D.C. United.

The RSL Reserves will return to Reserve League action on Sunday, March 17, when it will take on the Colorado Rapids Reserves at 11:00 a.m. MT at America First Field in Sandy, Utah.
