Published on March 4, 2013 under Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release

NEW YORK (March 4, 2013) - LA Galaxy forward Mike Magee was voted Major League Soccer player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for first week of the 2013 MLS season. This is Magee's second career Player of the Week award.

In LA Galaxy's home opener, Magee scored a hat trick to lead the Galaxy to a 4-0 win over Chicago Fire.

Magee's first goal came in the 38th minute when a blocked clearance fell to his left foot and he volleyed it past Sean Johnson.

His second goal came in the 68th minute. Magee wrong-footed the defender by cutting it back to his left and confidently curled a shot to the upper left corner.

The hat trick was complete in the 74th minute when Magee collected a blocked shot and volleyed it from the left side of the box across the face of goal to the right corner, leaving Johnson hopeless.

The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
