The Whalers will be wearing their white uniform sweater. The jerseys will be up for auction. Fans can place a bid on the white sweaters and take them home that night. This is the first the white jerseys have been auctioned this season.
Tonight's game will also feature the professional debut of United States Army Specialist Shawn Allen.
SPC Allen, currently stationed in Fort Drum, New York, has served 3 combat tours, with 2 to Iraq and 1 to Afghanistan. He has received 4 Army Commendation Medals, 4 Army Achievement Medals, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. SPC Allen has served 8 years in the Army Military Police.
SPC Allen arrived in Danbury on Tuesday and has been practicing with the club all week. He commented "Practices have been pretty smooth and a lot of fun. The guys have been great and I am very excited to be out there in front of so many people."
Growing up in Northern California, Allen - 27 years old, started playing hockey at a young age.
Allen added, "While being out there is going to be amazing, the ultimate dream is to score the game winning goal."
This night also features a fundraising program for the Stadley Rough School in Danbury, the Brookfield Winter Guard, and the Joshua Foundation.
Friday's post game party also takes us to a new post-game party destination. The Whalers will be heading to Pippas on South Street. Come check it out.
