Everblades Complete 3-0-0 Week
January 14, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release
The defending Kelly Cup champion Florida Everblades swept a three-game series from Toledo last week, improving their overall record to 18-13-7 for 43 points, and moving into sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Florida opened the week with a 4-1 win on Wednesday. Leigh Salters scored a pair of goals and Mathieu Roy added two assists to lead the way offensively, and Pat Nagle stopped 25 of 26 Walleye shots to earn the win in goal.
Friday night saw the Everblades rally with the game's final three goals for a come-from-behind 3-2 win. Salters put Florida on the scoreboard with a power-play goal midway through the second period and Brayden Irwin and Matthew Pistilli added goals just over two minutes apart midway through the final period to cap the comeback. Nagle was strong in goal again, stopping 38 shots.
The Everblades ended the series with another comeback win on Saturday, skating away with a 4-3 victory. After Toledo scored twice in the opening four minutes of the third period to take a 3-2 lead, Florida evened the score with a power-play goal from Aaron Bogosian at 12:30, and got the game-winning tally off the stick of Matt Marquardt at 14:45. Nagle won his third game of the week, stopping 33 shots in the victory.
Roy leads the Everblades this season with 37 points (13g-24a), while also ranking among the league leaders with 17 power-play points (6g-11a). David Rutherford, who was recalled to Charlotte of the American Hockey League on Friday, leads the club with 14 goals. Nagle's personal three-game winning streak, and 4-1-0 mark in his last five decisions, has improved his record on the season to 8-5-1.
Florida hits the road for three games this week, visiting Gwinnett on Friday and South Carolina on Saturday and Sunday.
