Anaheim Bolts News Release

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Bolts defeated the visiting Sacramento Surge 15-5 on Saturday night to register its third consecutive victory and put more pressure on Pacific Division rivals Turlock Express in the hunt for a PASL postseason berth. Adriano de Lima and recent addition Christian Ramirez had standout performances on the attack, De Lima recording two goals and five assists and teammate Ramirez adding one assist to his four-goal total.

After giving up the day's first tally to Surge midfielder Scott Colman, the Bolts quickly gained control of the game and bounced back with four unanswered tallies, Ramirez bagging a brace and teammates Oscar Reyes and Tommy Antunovich also finding the net. Salvador Guevara had Sacramento 's second at the other end.

Among the highlights of the opening quarter were two textbook counter-attacks by the home side, both of whom were initiated by attacking ace De Lima. First the Brazilian released midfielder Zach Bautista, who set up Ramirez at the back post. Then De Lima found Hugo Casillas, and the 31-year-old threaded a nice ball through to Antunovich, whose tap-in temporarily brought the score to 3-1.

Ahead 4-2 to start the second period, the Bolts went on a 5-1 run to bring the overall halftime lead to 9-3. Midfielder Miguel Sanchez had a pair of tallies, with De Lima and Reyes also finding the net for Head Coach Jeff Tackett's side, followed by Ramirez' third of the match. Midfielder Edric Soltero added his name to the score sheet for the Surge.

Anaheim 's Sanchez created one of the most memorable moments of the quarter when his right-footed rocket whistled inside the far post for a spectacular powerplay tally.

The home side continued its dominance after the break, winning the third period 4-1 to extend the overall advantage to 13-4. Ramirez, William Prado, Reyes and Casillas struck for Anaheim, while Surge defender Juan Fresquez found the net for the visitors. With their third consecutive win a mere formality in the game's final quarter, the Bolts shifted their focus on maintaining possession and not allowing Sacramento to gain any attacking momentum.

Goals by Anaheim 's Garr Persson and De Lima as well as by the most dangerous Surge attacker on the field, Colman, rounded out the 15-5 final score line.

The 6-5 Anaheim Bolts will continue their playoff push next weekend, as they travel to Washington State for a pair of crucial back-to-back meetings with division rivals Tacoma Stars on January 19 and 20.

Orange County 's professional indoor soccer team returns home on Saturday, February 2, for its big home clash with rivals and defending PASL champions San Diego Sockers. Tickets for the 7 p.m. PT fixture start at $12 and may be purchased through Ticketmaster or the Anaheim Convention Center Arena box office. Parking is free.
