
Los Angeles D-Fenders Lazar Hayward Signs with Minnesota Timberwolves

NEW YORK, Dec. 31, 2012 - The Minnesota Timberwolves today signed Los Angeles D-Fenders forward Lazar Hayward for the ninth GATORADE Call-Up of the 2012-13 NBA Development League season. Hayward joins more than 100 NBA players with NBA D-League experience currently on NBA rosters.
Hayward (6-6, 225, Marquette), who was acquired by the D-Fenders last week and has yet to see action for the team, returns to the NBA having played 68 career games for the Timberwolves (2010-11) and Oklahoma City Thunder (2011-12). Originally selected by the Washington Wizards in the first round (30th overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft, he owns NBA career averages of 2.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 8.2 minutes.
Assigned to the Tulsa 66ers from the Thunder last season, Hayward has played in three NBA D-League games, averaging 24.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 34.3 minutes.
Hayward is expected to join the Timberwolves today and be available Tuesday, Jan. 1, when the team travels to face the Utah Jazz.
