Maine's Shelvin Mack Named NBA Development League Performer of the Week

NEW YORK, Dec. 10, 2012 - Shelvin Mack of the Maine Red Claws was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played Dec. 3-9.

A 6-3, 215-pound guard out of Butler, Mack led the Red Claws to a 3-0 record for the week, averaging 22.3 points, 7.3 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 41.3 minutes. He scored a team-high 26 points on Saturday, Dec. 8 in a 116-114 win over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, returning the next night to dish out 10 assists in a 103-90 win over the Canton Charge on Dec. 9.

Originally selected in the second round (34th overall) of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards, Mack played in 64 games for Washington last season and owns NBA career averages of 3.6 points, 2.0 assists, 1.4 rebounds and 12.2 minutes.

Other top performers considered include Austin's Justin Dentmon, who averaged 22.0 points and 3.5 assists in two games for the Toros; Bakersfield's Brian Butch, who averaged 11.0 points and 9.8 rebounds in four games for the Jam; Canton's Arinze Onuaku, who averaged 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games for the Charge; Erie's D.J. Kennedy, who averaged 21.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in three games for the BayHawks; Fort Wayne's Ron Howard, who averaged 24.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in two games for the Mad Ants; Idaho's Will Barton, who averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games for the Stampede; Iowa's Chris Wright, who averaged 21.0 points and 6.0 assists in two games for the Energy; Los Angeles' Gary Flowers, who averaged 18.3 points and 10.7 rebounds in three games for the D-Fenders; Reno's Tyler Honeycutt, who averaged 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in two games for the Bighorns while on assignment from the Sacramento Kings; Rio Grande Valley's Mike Singletary, who averaged 20.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in three games for the Vipers; Santa Cruz's Taylor Griffin, who averaged 17.3 points and 12.0 rebounds in three games for the Warriors; Sioux Falls' Demetris Nichols, who averaged 21.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in three games for the Skyforce; Springfield's Ben Uzoh, who averaged 24.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in two games for the Armor; Texas' Chris Roberts, who averaged 22.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in two games for the Legends; and Tulsa's Jeremy Lamb, who averaged 19.5 points and 4.3 rebounds in four games for the 66ers while on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder.
