Portland Winterhawks' Brendan Leipsic Named HUSKY WHL Palyer of the Month

CALGARY, AB. - The Western Hockey League announced today that forward Brendan Leipsic, of the Portland Winterhawks, has been named the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for November.

The 18 year-old forward led all WHL scorers collected 30 points through the month of November finding the net nine times and accumulating 21 assists to go along with a +16 rating. Leipsic picked up multiple points in all 12 games played, which also included five games where he gathered three or more points. He holds the longest goal scoring streak in the WHL thus far this season at seven games (Oct. 28 - Nov. 10), scoring eight goals in that span, and is currently on the second longest point streak at 15 games (Oct. 28 - present), gathering 35 points in that span. Leipsic efforts also earned him a Three Star selection four times, with one being a 1st Star.

Leipsic currently sits seventh among all WHL scorers with 41 points (16 goals, 25 assists) in 24 games played. His consistent play helped the Portland Winterhawks to a 11-1-0-0 record in the month of November and currently sit 1st in the WHL U.S. Division and Western Conference with a 22-4-1-0 overall record for 45 points.

From Winnipeg, MB, Leipsic is in his third full season with the Portland Winterhawks. The "˜Hawks selected Leipsic in the 6th round in the 2009 WHL Draft and was recently a 3rd round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators.

His accomplishments make Brendan Leipsic a deserving choice as the HUSKY WHL Player of the Month for November.
