
Lakers Assign Darius Johnson-Odom to NBA D-League Affiliate Los Angeles D-Fenders

NEW YORK, Nov. 10, 2012 - The Los Angeles Lakers assigned first-year guard Darius Johnson-Odom to the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Lakers' NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced today. The assignment is the first for Johnson-Odom and the second overall of the 2012-13 NBA and NBA D-League seasons.
Johnson-Odom (6-2, 215, Marquette), who was originally selected 55th overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2012 NBA Draft before being acquired by the Lakers on Draft night, appeared in his first NBA game last night against the Golden State Warriors. In three preseason games for the Lakers this year, he averaged 2.0 points and 4.7 minutes.
In 105 collegiate games, Johnson-Odom averaged 15.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists, leading his team as a senior with 18.3 points per game. For his efforts during his final campaign, he was named First Team All-Big East honors in addition to being named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Associated Press.
Johnson-Odom will join the D-Fenders in time for the team's training camp in Los Angeles. The D-Fenders season tips off on Wednesday, Nov. 28 when the team hosts the Idaho Stampede.
