Sacramento Capitals Name Kolleen McNamee as General Manager

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) - The Sacramento Capitals announced today that Kolleen McNamee has been named general manager to head the team's day-to-day operations for their 28th season in the World TeamTennis Pro League presented by GEICO.

McNamee, who was previously the athletic director at Saint Francis High School, has been involved in sports as an athlete for over 35 years, a coach and administrator with over 16 years of experience as an Athletic Administrator.

As an athlete, McNamee played collegiate soccer at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where she was the captain of the team from 1992-1995. In 1995, she was selected as one of the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award recipients, which recognized the achievements of student-athletes who embodied the spirit of the sports legend who set an extraordinary example in the classroom, on the tennis court and in the community. McNamee was inducted into the Cal Poly Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.

After completing her senior year at Cal Poly, McNamee stayed on as an assistant coach. While coaching, she also worked for the USISL Premier Development League - Central Coast Roadrunners. She assisted in putting on the 1997 Premier Development League National Championships as well as a U.S. Open Cup game featuring Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes. While McNamee worked for the Roadrunners they were named the USISL Premier Development League Organization of the Year.

McNamee returned to Sacramento in 2001 to become the athletic director at her alma mater, Saint Francis High School. While working, McNamee earned her Master's in Athletic Administration from Ohio University. McNamee was named the CSADA Sac-Joaquin Section Athletic Director of the Year in 2009. She served the community speaking at conferences (including the 2012 Sac-Joaquin Section Women in Sports Day Conference), sat on numerous Sac-Joaquin Section Committees and served on boards such as the Sac-Joaquin Section Athletic Directors Association and California State Athletic Director's Association.

"I am looking forward to leading the Sacramento Capitals team and personnel, working with supportive experienced owners and WTT staff, and building on the outstanding community support for the team," said McNamee. In 2012, the Sacramento Capitals won the WTT Western Conference Championship and were runner-up in the WTT Finals in a tight match won by the Washington Kastles 20-19.

The 2013 WTT season runs during the month of July. The Capitals play all home matches at Sunrise MarketPlace Outdoor Pavilion at Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights.
