Elmira's Cheverie Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Marc Cheverie of the Elmira Jackals is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Oct. 12-14.

The 25-year-old was 2-0-0 with a goals against average of 1.50 and a save percentage of .950, helping the Jackals open with back-to-back wins for the second consecutive year.

Cheverie, who is under contract to Binghamton of the American Hockey Hockey League opened the season with 34 saves in a 3-2 win against Reading on Friday and followed that up with a 26-save performance in a 7-1 victory over Greenville on Saturday.

A native of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Cheverie was selected by the Florida Panthers in the seventh round (193rd overall) of the 2006 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

He has appeared in 54 career ECHL games with Cincinanti, Gwinnett and Elmira posting a record of 25-13-13 with four shutouts, a 2.88 goals-against average and a save percentage of .904. Cheverie has also appeared in 24 career American Hockey League games with Rochester and Portland.

Runners Up: Petr Mrazek, Toledo (1-0-0, 1.01 GAA, .971 save pct.) and Andrew Engelage, Utah (2-0-0, 2.00 GAA, .947 save pct.).

Also Nominated: Brian Stewart (Bakersfield), Adam Brown (Colorado), Rob Madore (Evansville), Ken Reiter (Fort Wayne), Louis Domingue (Gwinnett), Tyler Beskorowany (Idaho), Joel Martin (Kalamazoo), Adam Morrison (South Carolina), Tyler Bunz (Stockton) and Niko Hovinen (Trenton).
