
Mill Rats Sign Three Former Razorsharks

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats are excited to announce the signing of 6'8 power forward James Reaves, 6'0 point guard Jerice Crouch, and 6'4 guard Melvin Council. The three players were teammates on the Rochester Razorsharks of the Premier Basketball League (PBL) over the past several years.
"We are thrilled at the talent these young men possess, their character, and also their camaradrie and chemistry will be important," stated Mill Rats President & General Manager Ian McCarthy. "They've won an awful lot of basketball games in their careers and project to gel really well with our core veterans."
Reaves, also known as "Mook", is a bruising 245lb post player with a soft touch and great hands. He averaged 13.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game last season in Mexico for the Barreteros de Zacatecazs. His last season in Rochester he posted 17.1 points and 9.0 rebounds per game averages. He is well traveled internationally, having also played in Finland, Germany, and Venezuela.
Crouch has been the starting point guard for the Razorsharks over the past five seasons, and last year averaged 14.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. He also has had stints in Holland, Finland, and Slovakia. He is a tremendous team leader and defensive hawk.
Council, is a 6'4 combo guard who is equally adept at the point guard and shooting guard slots. Council generated 8.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists for the Razorsharks in last season. He was a 3rd round draft pick in the NBA Development League draft in 2007 by the Austin Toros.
The Mill Rats have also come to terms with their 2nd and 3rd round draft picks, 6'2 guard Darin Mency, and 6'6 forward Taneiko Robinson.
The Saint John Mill Rats regular season opener is November 3rd at Harbour Station. Season tickets are on sale now at the Harbour Station Box Office and at the Mill Rats Fan Zone in Brunswick Square on the second level (next to Tim Hortons).
