
Defenseman Jesse Perrin Joins the IceMen

EVANSVILLE, IN.--- Moving steadily closer to the beginning of the team's inaugural training camp as members of the ECHL in the league's 25th Anniversary Season, the Evansville IceMen, proud affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League and the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, have added yet another outstanding defenseman to their growing stable of blue line bulwarks.
On this date, the IceMen General Manager/Head Coach Rich Kromm has announced that defenseman JESSE PERRIN has assented to terms and will be making his debuting season under the employ of Evansville. Adhering to club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
A sound and solid, if not spectacular defenseman of excellent repute, PERRIN, 25, is getting ready for his fourth pro season overall and his first-ever cloaked in the armor of the IceMen. The 6-1, 200lb left-hand shooting member of the blue line brigade comes to Evansville coming off his best season in the pro ranks in 2011-12. Last season, in his lone season with the Arizona Sundogs of the CHL, he recorded 14-points in 60-games through 3-goals, 11-assists with 40-PIM. Perhaps, though, the most impressive attainment in his overall performance of a year ago was his team-high +4 rating as he was the lone Arizona team member to be of the premium, positive, plus mode. In addition, each of his season output of 3-goals was of the certainly significant ilk with 2 of those being on the power play with the third delivered shorthanded.
GM/Coach Kromm likes the style of play his newest defenseman will bring in elevating the IceMen overall club. "Jesse is a steady, stay-at-home, dependable defenseman who will bring plenty of excellent experience to our hockey club. He is very reliable and will provide solid defensive play on our back end. He should be a real stalwart on our defense."
The Western Canadian-bred from Crossfield, Alberta actually returned to the pro ranks in 2011-12 after spending one highly prosperous season in the Canadian collegiate ranks at Mount Royal College of the ACAC. While there in 2010-11, Perrin crafted 10-points in 16-outings on 3-goals, 7-assists with 25-PIM.
Prior to his one-year college sabbatical, he performed for a pair of seasons in the CHL with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees where in 89-games, he was 89(1-12-13) with 62-PIM.
From 2005 to 2008, Perrin starred in the junior `A' AJHL with the Okotoks Oilers with his best seasons brewed consecutively in 2006-07; 51(9-17-26) 90-PIM and 2007-08; 59(9-20-29) 45-PIM.
Perrin is the second defenseman signed by the IceMen thus far this week. Earlier in the week, the Coach Kromm club announced the signing of defenseman Jake Obermeyer.
Perrin's pro totals thus far are: 149-games; 4-goals; 23-assists; 27-points; 102-PIM.
Today's signing of defenseman JESSE PERRIN increases the total to 8-players in the IceMen fold for the 2012-13 ECHL season. He joins defensemen MATT GENS, JAKE OBERMEYER, PHILIPPE PLANTE; centers JASON DALE, TODD ROBINSON; left wing JOSH BEAULIEU; right wing DAN GENDUR.
