Cowlitz, WA: The Kelowna Falcons 2012 season officially came a close on Monday in a 4-3 loss in Cowlitz. The Falcons loss coupled with a Bellingham victory officially eliminated the club from any hopes of a post season berth.

With just a skeleton team remaining after most players left the club with a playoff spot unlikely, the Falcons would score first on Monday night in the third inning. Greg Friesen doubled to score Tyler Qualls to give the Falcons a 1-0. It would be the last hit in Friesen's WCL career.

The lead was short lived as the Black Bears came storming back in the bottom of the inning on back to back RBI hits off Falcons starter Cord Cockrell.

In their next at bats the Falcons would regain the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth. Reed Lavallee tripled to score Jonathan Munoz, then Jerry McClanahan would bring home Lavallee.

Cockrell would give up an earned and unearned run in the bottom of the fifth as the Black Bears took the lead for good. He would suffer the loss.

The Falcons would compile eight hits on the night including two from both Lavallee and Munoz.

The season comes to a disappointing end with a record of 28-26, but the club did set a record for most wins in a single season.

Both Cockrell and Brandon Marris set club records for wins in a single season with seven. Kyle Pearson would set new records for at bats (181), hits (59), RBIs (33), homeruns (7) and runs scored (37).

Thank you for all the support in 2012. With a good group of the core players eligible to return in 2013, recruiting has already begun.
