Kelowna Falcons News Release

Bellingham, WA: After a three day rest for the 2012 All-Star Game, the Kelowna Falcons opened a critical four game series in Bellingham with a 4-2 loss to the Bells.

The Falcons would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third after Tucker Alexander hit his second homerun of the summer.

The lead was short lived however as the Bells would score two runs off starter Cale Coshow in the bottom half of the third. They would then add to their 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth with a single tally off Coshow.

The Falcons would creep within one after scoring in the sixth inning when Tyler Qualls would bring home Greg Friesen. But that's as close as they would come as the Bells would add some insurance with an unearned run in the seventh off Hunter Wood.

With the 4-2 set back the Falcons fall two games back of the Bells for the second and final playoff spot in the East Division. Oddly enough despite the loss, if the Falcons played in the West Division, they would be in first place.

The Falcons (24-18) and Bells (25-15) will play game two of their crucial four game series at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham on Thursday night.

The Falcons will return home on Sunday to take on the first place Wenatchee Applesox for the final home stand of the season.
