Blue Wahoos Top BayBears in Series Finale

The Mobile BayBears dropped the series finale against the Blue Wahoos 6-3 at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium Monday night. Pensacola took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and added to the lead, posting four runs in the sixth inning off RHP Derek Eitel. Mobile avoided being held scoreless after plating thee runs in the top half of the seventh inning. With Monday's loss, Mobile has now dropped three straight series for the first time in 2012.

Brodie Greene put Pensacola on the board in the bottom of the second inning when Tucker Barnhart hit a RBI single to center. The Blue Wahoos took a 2-0 lead in the next at-bat when RHP Daniel Corcino reached on a fielding error by Eitel and David Vidal crossed the plate. The Blue Wahoos took a 6-0 advantage, scoring four runs on five hits in the sixth inning, including a three-run home run from Vidal.

Eitel suffered the loss, giving up five runs on eight hits over six innings. The BayBears struggled to get runners on against Corcino who earned the win, allowing just two runs on three hits in six innings of work. Matt Davidson crossed home for the BayBears first run of the game, scoring on a RBI ground out by Bobby Borchering. Wladimir Sutil plated Marc Krauss (pictured right) with a sacrifice fly in the next at-bat and Mobile scored the third and final run after an RBI single from Rossmel Perez, bringing home David Nick.

The BayBears return to Hank Aaron Stadium Wednesday, July 11, to open up a three game homestand vs. the Huntsville Stars at 7:05 PM.
