Rain Cancels Jacks Game, But Can't Douse Fireworks

July 7, 2012 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL) East Texas PumpJacks

Friday night's game between the East Texas Pump Jacks and the Texas Marshals was halted by rain in the bottom of the second inning with the Jacks leading, 6-0.

Since the contest was the final scheduled game in the first half of the season for the Jacks, the game is considered cancelled and will not be made up.

The Pump Jacks were set for an exciting night of baseball, but Mother Nature had other plans. Before the game was postponed, the Pump Jacks posted six runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Pump Jacks sent a parade of hitters to the plate in the first frame, highlighted by a two-run double by Colton Bickerstaff. Unfortunately, since the game was cancelled, the offensive surge was for naught and the statistics were washed away in the storm.

Fans with tickets for Friday night's game will be able to exchange their tickets through the Pump Jacks' rainout policy. Ticket stubs for the game can be exchanged for tickets of equal or lesser value to any Jacks home game this season, subject to availability. Fans may make the exchange at the Pump Jacks office, located at 114 North Kilgore Street in downtown Kilgore, or at the ticket booth the night of any home game.

The Pump Jacks end the first half of the season as TCL division champions, earning the top seed in the playoffs. The first round of the postseason-now a one-game, winner-take-all matchup-will be held at historic Driller Park on August 12. Season ticket holders will soon be able to purchase playoff tickets before they go on sale to the general public in several weeks.

The first-place Jacks will take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters at Driller Park on Saturday in their final game before the All-Star break. For fans attending that game, it's a win-win situation- literally! Thanks to Guaranteed Win Night at Driller Park, if the Pump Jacks end up on the short end of the scoreboard against the Cane Cutters, Jacks fans will receive tickets to the next Fireworks Friday game on July 20 against the Victoria Generals.

First pitch for Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
