
Recap of the 2012 NBL Canada Owners' Meeting

(TORONTO, ON) Owners of the National Basketball League of Canada have deliberated over the course of two days in Toronto to discuss several topics for the upcoming 2012-2013 season. After review, the Board of Directors voted to have items implemented in the upcoming season.
Here are the following items that were voted upon:
- Number of Regular Season games increased to 40 games
- Regular Season will start November 1, 2012
- Three minimum Canadian Players on Team Rosters
- Two Divisions (Central & Atlantic)
- Expanded Playoff Format with five qualifying teams; 1st Round (Best of 3), Semifinals & Finals (Best of 5)
"The two days of meetings were extremely productive and we're excited about the new changes that are being implemented for the upcoming season, "said NBL Canada COO Ian McCarthy. "These changes will give added value to our fans and partners as the league continue to grow. "
The League now turns its attention to the 2012 NBL Canada Pre-Draft Combine and Draft to be held August 25th - 27th .
