Erie BayHawks News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania, Wednesday, June 27 - Each June, the NBA Draft is a turning point in the lives of 60 collegiate or international basketball players. All drafted players have aspirations of becoming the next NBA superstar and the NBA Draft is the first step in that process. This year's draft is being held on Thursday, June 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Along with the 60 players who will be drafted, it also figures to be a memorable night for four Erie BayHawks fans who have won the opportunity to attend the draft.

The BayHawks held an online contest for all fans, encouraging them to show their spirit through an e-mail submission, detailing why they are worthy of winning tickets to the draft, courtesy of the BayHawks and the NBA. Fans were also eligible to win by utilizing the BayHawks social media sites. In the end, two winners were selected.

The winning e-mail submission was entered by Kregg Heenan. In his submission, Kregg spoke about his eight year old son's passion for the game.

"While most eight year olds are only interested in the hottest jersey or the coolest shoe, my son studies the history of basketball. He is an avid card collector and book reader and can tell you who holds records, who was drafted in what round and from what college, and he enjoys following the successes from college to the pros."

Heenan and his son have agreed to act as correspondents for the BayHawks by taking photos and writing about their experience at the draft for use on the BayHawks website.

The other local winner is Kevin Carmosino, who won two tickets after being randomly selected for sharing the BayHawks message to his followers on Twitter.

An NBA representative is also working on getting all four winners special entrance into draft night receptions as well as treating them to dinner prior to the start of the draft. The draft will be aired live on ESPN at 7:00 pm.
