Draftee Nikia Williams Signs with Pride
June 12, 2012 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) USSSA Florida Pride
Nikia Williams, who was selected by the USSSA Pride as the 16th overall pick in the 4th round of the 2012 NPF Draft, signed with the USSSA Pride today after a meeting with USSSA CEO and Pride GM Don DeDonatis.WIlliams was one of four Husky seniors to finish their careers at UW in 2012. Williams, a two-time NFCA All-American leaves UW ranked in the top 10 in many batting categories, including RBI, home runs, walks, slugging percentage and on base percentage.
She led UW to four NCAA Tournaments, four Super Regionals two WCWS, a national championship and a Pac-10 Championship and also became just the third Husky softball player in school history to be a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

The Lady Tigers (40-25), one of two unranked teams to advance to the final eight in the WCWS needed to win two elimination games on Saturday to stay alive. They won the first, but couldn't pull off the second victory, falling 6-0 to defending champion Arizona State.
The Lady Tigers survived their first elimination game of the day with a 1-0 victory over South Florida (50-14). Brittany Mack's two-hitter helped lead LSU past South Florida. Mack struck out eight batters and gave up just two hits in tossing her 15th career shutout.
"They definitely gave us a tough game today," Torina said. "Any one thing for either team was going to be the deal breaker in it. So luckily, we got the break and it fell our way. Our kids battled. I thought Brittany Mack pitched a great game and kept us in it."
Mack, who signed her pro contract on Wednesday, was the USSSA Pride's No. 1 overall draft pick in March for the NPF Pro Fastpitch League. The 2011 NFCA Third-Team All-American amassed a 56-26 record, a 1.90 ERA and 602 strikeouts over her four-year career at LSU. The 602 Ks and 56 victories rank fifth and sixth in program history.

Three homers from the Crimson Tide drowned California 5-2, as Alabama ousted the Golden Bears from the Women's College World Series on Sunday afternoon at the Women's College World Series.
USSSA Pride's draft choice Valerie Arioto, went 0-1 in the game with 3 walks.
