Seattle Sounders FC begin quest to make Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup history
The 16 U.S.-based MLS clubs are set to begin play in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup this week, entering in the third round of the tournament. After winning the tournament each year since joining MLS in 2009, Seattle Sounders FC will look to make Open Cup history by winning a fourth successive Open Cup title. While three teams (Sounders FC, St Louis Stix, Baer, Fuller/Central Breweries, and New York Greek American) have won three consecutive titles, no team has ever won four in a row. Seattle's journey begins Wednesday as they host the Atlanta Silverbacks at the Starfire Sports Complex. A live webcast will be available on SoundersFC.com beginning at 10 p.m. ET.

MLS Week 13 Previews
(Home team listed first; all times Eastern)
Saturday, June 2
New England Revolution vs. Chicago Fire, 7:30 p.m.
* Inextinguishable: The Fire have a 10-game undefeated streak against the Revolution in league play. New England's last victory in regular season play came May 6, 2007 at Gillette Stadium.
* Sene Streak: Saer Sene extended his goal-scoring streak to three games (with four goals in that span) in New England's 3-2 loss at D.C. United. Sene had five goals and one assist in May (six games).
- Dominic Effect: Chicago Fire forward Dominic Oduro has scored the last three times he has faced New England, once in both meetings between the clubs and once in 2010 as a member of the Houston Dynamo.
- First Encounters: Although they had a combined 15 years of MLS playing experience, Fire manager Frank Klopas and Revs boss Jay Heaps faced each other just once, a 4-1 victory for Heaps' Fire over Klopas' Miami Fusion in 1999. This is their first meeting as managers.
Quotables
"After nine games and zero points ... it's a big relief. Finally, other questions from you all."
-- Toronto FC head coach Aron Winter after his club's first league win of the season, 1-0 vs. Philadelphia Union
"Throughout the week, we've been talking about it. First place, first place, first place."
-- D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid, to The Washington Post, after D.C. United's 3-2 win vs. New England that moved the club into first place in the Eastern Conference for the first time since 2009
"Anyone that scores goals is happy when they score a goal, but it's good for him because he hasn't scored since the second game of the season."
-- Seattle Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid to The Seattle Times on David Estrada's tying goal in a 1-1 draw with Chivas USA
"That was bad positioning on my part. He used his body well. He took me out of position. It was a good learning opportunity for me."
-- Chicago Fire rookie defender Austin Berry on Emilio RenterÃ-a's goal that gave the Columbus Crew a 2-1 win
