Troyke Receives ECHL Outstanding Media Award

Published on May 17, 2012 under ECHL (ECHL) News Release

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced on Thursday that Christine Troyke of The Gwinnett Daily Post has been selected as the 2011-12 recipient of the ECHL Outstanding Media Award .

The award is determined in a vote of league media members, media relations directors and broadcasters.

"Christine is a very-deserving recipient of the ECHL's Outstanding Media Award," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. "She brings informative articles and features to her readers, and is well-versed in the ECHL from nearly a decade of covering the league."

"I've asked a lot of players about winning awards and the things they always say to me are the same things I find myself saying now," Troyke said. "It's an honor to be given this award, to see my name listed with a lot of colleagues I've known and respected since I first started as a beat writer in the ECHL. I enjoy my job a great deal and a great deal of what I do wouldn't be possible without the people I work with on a daily basis, at the paper and within the Gladiators organization. They have never failed to make my job easier and I appreciate it more than I can say."

Troyke joined The Gwinnett Daily Post in 2003, and has covered the Gladiators since their inception. Prior to that, she covered the Pee Dee Pride for The Florence Morning News for three seasons.
