Erie's D.J. Kennedy Signs with Cleveland Cavaliers

NEW YORK, April 21, 2012 - The Cleveland Cavaliers today signed Erie BayHawks guard D.J. Kennedy for the record 58th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2011-12 NBA Development League season. Kennedy joins more than 100 NBA players with NBA D-League experience currently on 2011-12 rosters.

In 44 regular season games, all starts, with the BayHawks, Kennedy (6-6, 215, St. John's) averaged 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 37.4 minutes. He scored in double figures 39 times, posting eight double-doubles. Kennedy also appeared in all three of Erie's postseason games, averaging 14.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 42.0 minutes.

A rookie, Kennedy began his professional career with the BayHawks following a four-year standout career at St. John's when he averaged 11.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 30.5 minutes in 129 career games for the Red Storm.

Kennedy is expected to join the Cavaliers today and be available when the team travels to play the San Antonio Spurs tomorrow night.
