EDMONTON, Ab. (April 20, 2012) - There will be a lot more on the line this Sunday than simply three points.

FC Edmonton (FCE) and the Minnesota Stars FC will renew a rivalry that began last season and culminated in the presentation of the Flyover Cup to the Eddies for winning the season series (2-2-0).

The 2011 version of the Eddies had a lot of success against the Stars and this year's team hopes that success continues into 2012.

"We played them four times last year and we earned eight of 12 points so we matched up really well," said FCE midfielder Shaun Saiko. "But that really doesn't mean anything now. The Stars are the league champs and you have to beat the best to be the best."

FCE started the 2012 season on a three-game road trip and will be coming home to open Clarke Stadium with one point in the bag and hoping for three more on Sunday.

The team's defense has proven to be one of the top units in the league, having conceded just two goals in the three games. Offense, however, has been another story. The Eddies have yet to score this season and hope that the goal gates get kicked open against the Stars.

Young Chilean striker Yashir Pinto will be available for selection on Sunday. Pinto is still working on a visa to enter the United States but is free to play in home games.

Since winning the 2011 NASL Championship, the new-look Stars have earned two points in two games so far this year.

This will be the first time the two teams will face each other this year.

Fans that can't make it out to Clarke will have the opportunity to watch the game live online CBC. Every home game this year will be available at www.cbc.ca/edmonton/soccer .

"Having the broadcasts associated with CBC is a sign not only of local interest in FC Edmonton, but that Canadians are intrigued by a team that puts the development of our country's talent, first," said FCE colour commentator Steven Sandor. "I am happy to once again partner with Gareth (Hampshire), and to be able to introduce the Eddies to a wider audience."
